I am interested in Victorian social history, antiques, heritage architecture, and most sports. I am a devoted fan of the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Mariners and watch or listen to most of the games. I am a passionate fan of our local college summer baseball team, the Victoria HarbourCats, and sponsor one game each year. Visit the page for my home-based business, Bed Buddies Gifts, which makes stuffed toys, slippers, scarves, gloves, and grumpy bum pants. I spend time knitting, sewing and crocheting. It almost goes without saying that I love my Mac and spend several hours a day at it.
I have held numerous volunteer positions over my lifetime and was honoured to be recognized by the Victoria YM/YWCA with a Women of Distinction Award in 2005. I edited newsletters for the Rockland Neighbourhood Association, and continue to work with the Hallmark Heritage Society, and the Professional Writers Assocation of Canada. I also proofread for the Ontario Genealogy Society and write articles for several publications. I am an accomplished researcher and writer. I am a co-author of Ross Bay Villa: A Colonial Cottage: 1865-2000, published by the Hallmark Society.
I began researching my family history in 2000 and became deeply involved in genealogy. I became a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. As a writer, I am a member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada while my interest in hockey history is reflected in my membership in the Society for International Hockey Research.
The History of Professional Hockey in Victoria BC: 1911-2011
I am currently working on a book about the history of professional hockey in Victoria. Working on this project brings together my two passions—hockey and research. For more information on this project, visit my website at http://www.professionalhockeyinvictoria.ca.
